Lower your electricity costs - with NeoGrid® AI

No, you can use NeoGrid® AI even without a dynamic electricity rate plan. It also works with our SimplyFair, SimplyFair12, and SimplyFair24 rate plans. As an Ostrom customer, you can use NeoGrid® AI for free and automatically earn credits.

You need an active electricity contract with Ostrom, and your electric car or home battery must be compatible with NeoGrid® AI. You can see which manufacturers are compatible in the compatibility overview above.

Electric Cars: You can connect electric cars from major manufacturers like VW, Mercedes, and Tesla directly to the Ostrom app. For smaller manufacturers, you may also need a compatible wallbox. This is because we require additional control information from the wallbox.

Home Battery: Currently, only Huawei home battery storage systems are compatible with NeoGrid® AI. Other manufacturers will follow in the coming months. To use NeoGrid® AI with your Huawei home storage system, you’ll also need an inverter and meter (e.g., the Smart Assistant/Emma) from Huawei.

An additional Home Energy Management System (HEMS) is not required. Control is handled easily and securely through our Ostrom app.

When you connect your electric car or home battery storage system to NeoGrid® AI, you’re not only optimizing your own electricity consumption - you’re also supporting the power grid.

NeoGrid® AI detects when there is a surplus or shortage of energy in the power grid and responds automatically. This allows us to leverage the flexibility of your electric car or home battery storage system to relieve strain on the power grid. This generates revenue that we share with you.

As a thank-you, you’ll receive NeoGrid Credits, which you can apply toward your electricity bill or redeem in the Ostrom Store. This way, your electric car or home battery storage system becomes an active part of the energy transition - and you automatically benefit from it.

No, NeoGrid® AI does not yet support bidirectional charging, but the process is similar.

NeoGrid® AI is powered by our virtual power plant, which connects all connected devices to one another. When there is not enough power available in the grid, NeoGrid® AI provides flexibility - not by physically feeding power back into the grid, but virtually through the market by shifting your charging cycle.

To use NeoGrid® AI, you need an active electricity contract with Ostrom. With our monthly plans, SimplyFair and SimplyDynamic, you can sign up and try out NeoGrid® AI. If you don’t like it, you can switch electricity providers at any time or simply continue using our electricity plans. Try it out now!
